There is only 60 minutes to do a photo session. That long, you say? To be clear, it’s not a whole hour of taking photos. There’s the introductions, then a location-and-light assessment (for new areas) and then, in-between the clicking, there’s more talking, because taking photos involves conversation too. In that time I’m receiving feedback on who’s shy, or reluctant, or averse to smiling with teeth. Then there’s the way the light shifts in different directions, while I’m also tracking the bids for connection that are happening on the edges of my camera. And all the while there’s a countdown in my head. Because while I’m warming up with every capture, everyone else is slowly reaching photographic burnout.
It’s fast and we’re all burning calories by the second (does laughing count?). An hour sounds like a long time if you’re standing in one place, but when you’re having fun, and you forget yourself, it’s quite a memorable way to spend time with your loved ones.
These photos took place at Fourdoun Hotel & Spa in celebration of a mom-grandmother’s special milestone birthday.
