South Africa is known for its warm and sunny days so it was very appropriate when I met up with Caitlin and her family for a shoot which happened in the heat of a scorching February summer during a family visit from the UK. The reason for the visit was to spend time with family and to introduce her daughter to the homeland. With a little crew of grandparents, aunt and uncle and parents in attendance, it was easy to see that no time or distance could diminish the power of love. I always enjoy listening to people’s stories as I am drawn in to their circle and as I get their backstory the session unfolds more as a conversation with my camera than a meeting place with strangers.
