With the advent of smartphones and the increasingly clever capabilities of phone cameras, we take photos of everything around us, in one singular, unthinking movement. We document our food, our dogs, a sunset, our latest online purchase. Many things over and over that reflect increments of value in our daily lives. Somehow, though, when it comes to being in front of the camera we may formulate many counter-arguments that keep us from those captures. When we lose weight. When our hair looks good. When we can afford Botox. We create countless plausible “whens” in our heads but the opportunities grow less and less. Especially as our kids grow older and forge their separate pathways. With time, we will have to wait to be asked by our kids to have us in a photo.
All we have is now. So take the photos now, and when you look back, your older self will thank you for the memories.
