Before I start a shoot I am thinking about how I can bring out the best in people. The real key to this lies with shifting their attention from me to each other. Sometimes I ask questions about their life, or I might nudge them into a display of affection. Most people are camera shy until I help them realise that the capture is ultimately about connection and a way to honour their story. Everyone has a story. Sometimes it may seem ordinary but the truth is that no two stories are ever the same. And your smile, which you may think is unremarkable, is the way you own your story with certainty and gratitude.
