At the time of this session their eldest child had recently completed school for good and was making plans to head overseas. Also at this time my son was on his was to start his undergrad at university. I related as a mom who was in a constant state of swallowing the overload of emotion that rose unchecked from the heart. The duality of life is an ever present reminder that when the changes come to us, we can give ourselves the permission to have those accompanying, and opposing feelings, move through us, too. Joy and sorrow, fear and hope, anxiety and gratitude. And, if you’re lucky enough, a doggo close-by, to have and to hold through the transitions that we go through.
