I have always loved winter photo sessions. The light is sublime, and even the dryness of the landscape has a unique appeal. Timing, though, is everything. Once the sun goes down the chill factor sets in, but if it’s too early in the day the sun is still unforgiving in its intensity. I default to photographing into the light because I like the halo effect that the good light creates in the background. Probably my most asked question is why I shoot this way. Getting to know and understand light is always a key component to achieving great results with photos and it’s very rewarding when good light and great people merge together.
